Thank you for visiting the Rush County Schools website. Please visit the links on the home page to see websites for each building. I have included some of my personal thoughts below.
Accountability is the current trend in education. Indiana has presented all school corporations with Public Law 221 and President Bush has signed “No Child Left Behind” into law. We understand that not only are we accountable for the education of our students, we are also accountable to the taxpayers of Rush County. Parents, please help by making your children accountable for their actions and education. My goal is to facilitate offering the best education possible with the resources that are available.
In my opinion, no one other factor will predict success more than attitude. Fortunately, attitudes can be altered. Most of us at one time have seen the Successories image demonstrating the ripple effect of attitudes like a ripple in water. The image states “Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference.” Unfortunately, this is true for positive or negative attitudes. We must work together to help create positive attitudes in everyone. While education is VERY important, attitude is key. William Jones is credited with noting, “The greatest discovery of any generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitude.”
Many local businesses and individuals contribute resources to Rush County Schools. The resources come in many forms such as monetary, time, and expertise. We thank everyone that helps with the education of our students. If you have a resource that you feel could benefit our students, please contact me.
Occasionally, differences in opinions will occur. It is my belief that problems are best solved at the source. If you are having conflicts, please attempt to handle these issues as directly and respectfully as possible. If your efforts fall short, next try to resolve problems with an administrator in your child’s building. If issues still exist, you may contact the superintendent or me.
Homeless Students
One of my responsibilities is that of Homeless Liaison. If you are a homeless student or if you know of a homeless student within the Rush County Schools, please contact me at (765)932-4186 to help assure that you receive a suitable education.
